Where can you eat in Lodz?

Most restaurants in Lodz are located on the main street of the city. The restaurants on Piotrkowska Street are very popular with both locals and tourists. Piotrkowska Street has many different local restaurants – different sizes, different cuisines from different parts of the world, in very different prices – in a word: something for everyone. Another important cluster of restaurants is Manufaktura. Factory restaurants are a good idea for lunch after sightseeing. In Manufaktura, after successful shopping, you can also enjoy a delicious dinner, visit a cinema or nearby museums.

OFF Piotrkowska Center is also an important place on the gastronomic map of Lodz. Restaurants in the OFF Piotrkowska area are the perfect place for lunch or dinner in an authentic post-industrial environment.

In addition, OFF Piotrkowska offers restaurants right in the center of Lodz. A little further south, in the courtyard of Piotrkowska 217 street, there are some restaurants in the Piotrkowska 217 complex. There are two vegan restaurants, two pizzerias, a Japanese and a Thai restaurant. One of the newest and most spectacular places in Łódź is the Monopolis restaurants, which offer only high-quality food from the best ingredients. There you can try original Italian food or, more widely, Mediterranean, European and of course Polish food. The post-industrial landscape of the Monopoly complex is a nice addition to the meal.

Lodz local cuisine

Traditional Lodz cuisine is actually a mixture of four pre-war cuisines: Jewish, Russian, German and Polish. This is because these four countries together built Lodz during its industrial development in the 19th century.

In addition, the Polish side of Lodz cuisine is very diverse, drawing the best from all the nearby culinary regions between which the Lodz region lies, ie. Greater Poland (Wielkopolska), Masovia (Mazowsze), Silesia (Śląsk) and Lesser Poland (Małopolska). You have to remember that typical meals in pre-war Lodz were quite simple and cheap because they were mostly workers; food, which is why today’s restaurants serving traditional Lodz dishes enrich them with original twists.

Lodz culinary events

If you are a true fan of food and everything related to it, be sure to visit the culinary events taking place in Lodz every month. We strongly recommend all kinds of food festivals, especially the Festival of Good Taste (Festiwal Dobrego Smaku), as well as all Lodz Food Truck Rallies, Street Food and other food festivals. We also recommend attending one of the many culinary workshops at BookandCook or Baccaro studio. You can sign up for ongoing open workshops or gather a group of friends or family and book a special, personalized cooking workshop!
