About Lodz Voivodeship

Among Poland’s cultural landscapes, the Lodz Voivodeship is one of the places and areas with unique values. The Lodz Voivodeship is rich in monuments, unique architectural manufacture, excellent places for active relaxation, rich folklore traditions, and is also characterized by unique cultural values, and this is possible thanks to the fact that the voivodeship is a common administrative area for lands with a separate cultural identity – the Łęczyca Land, Rawska and Sieradz. The capital of the region, Lodz is a fascinating city that developed at the end of the 19th century as one of the most dynamic in the world, and four cultures intertwined into a unique whole: Polish, German, Jewish and Russian. The turbulent development of Lodz was presented in Władysław Reymont, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, in the story „The Promised Land”. In addition, larger cities in the region such as, among others, Sieradz and Piotrków Trybunalski are also important cultural centers influencing the positive image of the entire region.
